The Minnesota Vikings have been busy on the first day of free agency, earlier filling a need along the offensive line and now filling a need at the safety position.

NBC Sports is reporting that the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with former Tennessee Titans safety Michael Griffin.  The 31 year-old was a first round pick in 2007 and has had successful seasons, including Pro Bowl appearances in 2008 and 2010.

The Vikings have been looking for a more dynamic veteran safety to play alongside star safety Harrison Smith.  They hoped that adding such a player would free Smith to make more big plays in the secondary.

Now we will see if Griffin has a couple good years left in the tank, and if he does it will certainly improve the Vikings defense overall.
