Viking Ship To Be Moved, Causing Temporary Closure of Lakewalk Thursday

As we mentioned earlier this week, the Leif Erickson Viking ship will be moved tomorrow morning.  Now the City has announced that the move will cause a temporary closure of the lakewalk for much of the day tomorrow.

The City of Duluth will be moving the "Viking Ship" out of Leif Erikson Park on Thursday, July 11^th.   The ship will be temporarily stored at the City's 42^nd West Tool house until a final location is determined and a secure structure to house the ship is constructed.  Viant Crane will be on site this Thursday beginning at 6:00 AM to move the ship and it is anticipated the move will take all morning, possibly into the afternoon.  This section of the Lakewalk will need to be closed to pedestrian traffic during the moving of the ship.   The City has established an alternate Lakewalk route along London Road and the Rose Garden.  We ask the public to please follow the signs designating the detour.
