Verizon Wireless To End Unlimited Data Plans
It was announced in an industry conference yesterday that Verizon will no longer be offering an unlimited data plan to it's customers with the new expanded 4Glte network. Many customers who already have their unlimited contracts will be grandfathered in, but new customers soon will no longer be able to select the unlimited plan. They instead will need to use a data share plan contract.
Because the new LTE network is faster, it likely will drive subscribers to consume more data. Verizon's plan to herd all users into pay-as-you-go plans reflects its efforts to generate more revenue to pay for its new network, Rubin says. "They used the 3G network to prime the pump for data consumption."
