Valuable Traffic Information for the Spirit Valley Parade TONIGHT, Where to Park, the Parade Route and Street Closures

It's an anticipated yearly tradition: Spirit Valley Days in West Duluth. There are so many fun activities spread out over many days. The Crowning of Miss West Duluth is one highlight, congratulations to this year's royalty MWD 2013, Haley Johnson & MWDP 2013, Shania Krause!!! Another highlight is the Spirit Valley Days Parade tonight. The Duluth Police Department gives us valuable information on the route of the parade, street closures and parking.

STREET CLOSURES AND PARKING RESTRICTIONS

Parade units will line up on 59th Avenue West between Raleigh Street and Grand Avenue beginning at 4:45 p.m. Parade route closures will begin about 5:30 p.m., and the parade will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Parade Route: Line up on 59th Ave West, then East on Grand Avenue to Central Avenue, south on Central Avenue to Bristol Street, left on Bristol Street where the parade will disband near Mike Colalillo Drive.

The parade units will use all of Grand Avenue from 59th Avenue West to Central Avenue.

Vehicle Traffic: will be detoured off Grand Avenue for the parade between 59th Avenue West and Central Avenue starting at about 5:30 p.m. Westbound Grand Avenue traffic will be detoured North on Central Avenue toward Cody Street and Eighth Street. Eastbound Grand Avenue traffic will be diverted onto Raleigh Street because construction has closed part of Eastbound Grand Avenue. The traffic will follow Raleigh to Central Avenue, turn left onto Northbound Central Avenue to the Northbound I-35 on ramp. Traffic can go North to local businesses, but only to Bristol street where all traffic must turn left into the parking lots.

DTA Buses: Westbound will turn up Central Avenue and travel West on Cody to 59th Ave West, then down to continue West on Grand. Easbtound Buses will turn onto Raleigh following the detour to Central Avenue then up onto Northbound I-35 to 40th Avenue West where they will continue East on Grand Avenue.

All avenues and store exits onto Grand between 59 Avenue West and Central Avenue will be closed during the Parade.
59th Avenue West will be blocked from Grand Avenue to Raleigh Street at 4:30pm for the Parade line-up area.

No parking will be allowed on either side of Grand Avenue along the parade route, on 59th Avenue West from Raleigh St to Grand Ave, on Central Avenue from Grand Ave to Bristol St, and on Bristol St from Central Ave to Mike Colelillo Dr. "No parking" signs will be posted along these routes. Vehicles in violation will be tagged and towed. Motorists should be alert to detours and officers directing traffic.
