If you and your family have experienced Wednesday Night at the Races with the Young Athletes Foundation and Grandma's Marathon, you already know how much fun it is.  If you haven't attended the event before you'll be hooked.  You don't have to wait for a Wednesday in the summer either, get ready for (drum roll) Saturday Morning at the Races, Indoors!

The staff at Grandma's Marathon and the board of the Young Athletes Foundation have outdone themselves with a FREE event for the family that includes exercise, excitement and accolades.  There are two Saturday opportunities left for your family to get involved and the next date includes a visit from members of the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleading Squad and Viktor the official MN Vikings Mascot.  So you can get some awesome photo ops. Each child that participates will also get post race snacks and an official Saturday Morning at the Races t-shirt too!  Oh, and they've thought of everything, your parking is free too.

Upcoming Dates To Mark On Your Calendar:

January 14:  College of St. Scholastica Burns Wellness Center, 1200 Kenwood Avenue in Duluth.

February 4:  University of WI-Superior's Lydia S. Thering Fieldhouse, 1810 Catlin Avenue, Superior.

The event will have the same feel as Wednesday Night at the Races, except that it will be on Saturday morning and held indoors.  Register between 9:00a-9:50a with the races to begin at 10a.  What a great way for your kids to run off some of that energy they've been stifling because they've had to be indoors due to our cold weather.

Here are the ages categories and distances for both genders:

  • Wheelchair division – 1/8 mile
  • 4 & under – 1/8 mile
  • 5 & 6 – 1/8 mile
  • 7 & 8 – 1/4 mile
  • 9 & 10 – 1/4 mile
  • 11 & 12 – 1/2 mile
  • 13 & 14 – 1/2 mile
