UMD's annual Homecoming Parade has usually been held on Superior Street in downtown Duluth.  This year, they are moving it on campus and will allow fans the luxury of just walking over to the UMD Homecoming football game, rather than having to drive and re-park.

The parade and football game will be held tomorrow, Saturday, October 15, 2016.  Personally, I think it's a great idea to move the parade onto the campus that bears it's name.  In years past it was held in downtown Duluth, miles away from the UMD campus, and Griggs Field at Malosky stadium.

That means there will be some detours and road closures on Saturday to accommodate the parade route.  They'll be starting early, about 9:45 you can expect University Drive and St. Marie Street to be closed.

Parade units will be gathering in Lot B on University Drive to line up and at 10a they will begin the parade northbound on University Drive to St. Marie Street, then turn left and finish on Kirby Drive.  They don't expect traffic on Kirby Drive to be affected.

Also, for those students and residents that use the DTA, bus service will continue as usual and will actually be allowed on the parade route.  By 11:00 you can expect all traffic to be running as normal.  Please remember to use caution in the area of the parade and at all times when driving through the UMD Campus as there is always an abundance of foot traffic.
