When Louisiana boy Trace Adkins made a stop in his home state at the Baton Rouge’s Dixie Landin’, he was surprised with a big honor! The singer has officially been inducted into the state’s Hall of Fame.

Adkins rode into the amusement park on June 21 for what was supposed to be a regular ol’ tour date, but it turned out to be much more than that. Mike Sheperd, the President and Executive Director of the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, took the stage to give the country crooner the award, and Bobby Jindal, the Louisiana Governor, even issued an official statement.

Adkins has always been quick to show his Louisiana pride — he even named his band after his hometown! The Sarepta Gentleman’s Club was given the name after the town of Sarepta. Adkins was born in the northern Louisiana town in 1962.

The singer will soon make a special tour pitstop in his hometown for a special show. He’s playing Sarepta’s Muddy Bottoms ATV & Recreation Park on July 5. The event — called Muddin for the Military — will raise money for the Lone Star Warriors Outdoors. They strive to connect wounded warriors with the outdoors again (and they do so with hunting, fishing and ATV rides!).

Adkins has tour stops through the end of the year, including a few music festivals, some fairs, a cruise and even a few Christmas shows before the holiday. A full list of tour dates are here.
