The Vikings VS Seahawks playoff game at TCF Stadium is going to be cold!  Forecasts expect that the high will reach zero degrees, with windchills as cold as -20.  What are some tricks to stay warm?  Well based on my years of hunting experience in extreme cold weather, here's some tips.

First thing is first, obviously you'll need to dress in layers.  AND, as a rule of thumb, cotton is a big time no no when it comes to contact with your skin.  The reason is that cotton absorbs moisture, so it will get wet and damp, then freeze and be cold.   That's why you should wear wool socks.  I personally like the DARN TOUGH brand of socks.  Merino wool doesn't itch, and it's very warm.

Be sure to wear heavy winter boots.  Also make sure to wear you long johns underneath everything, then layer your clothes over the top.  You can never put on too much.  Fleece is always a good layer to put on, and then top it all with heavy winter bibs/ snow pants, and jacket.

Don't forget your gloves, and your winter hat, with a face cover.   Some of this seems like common sense, but you'd be surprised how many people don't get this.

And here's one more tip that will help you out.  Drink warm fluids BEFORE you get cold.  If you wait until you're cold, it takes more energy to heat your body back up than it does to keep it warm.

Blankets will help as well.
