I've been fortunate enough to work at a job for most of my career that really doesn't require you to dress up that much.  Lately however I've jumped into another business endeavor that requires me to suit up every once in a while.  Surprisingly, I've noticed that people treat you differently when you wear a suit.  Some of them are very subtle, but it really starts to add up when you begin to notice.  The biggest advantage is you get better customer service.

It first hit me when I was standing in line at the grocery store.   A worker came by, tapped me on the shoulder and said, "I can help you on 5."  It was like she went out of the way to get me service.  At first I didn't think much about it.

Then I was out to lunch and we had really good service.  It's not that uncommon for that to happen, but I started noticing that our server was being particularly prompt with our orders and drinks.  Coincidence?

When I went into the gas station and the bank, I was treated friendlier than normal as well.   Is it really just because I'm wearing a suit?  Or is it because I carry myself differently when I'm dressed up?
