Thomas Rhett is becoming a familiar face at music's biggest awards shows, following up nominations at the CMA and Grammy Awards with two nods at the upcoming 2017 ACM Awards.

Rhett is up for Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Die a Happy Man,” and he could very well take home a trophy at the awards show on Sunday (April 2). But he says the recognition is an honor in itself.

“It’s just been nuts over the last year to have been nominated for either Single or Song in pretty much every award show, so to get nominated at the ACMs for that is a very, very incredible feat,” Rhett says humbly. “There are so many songs that have been released this year that are so good, so just to be in that category is amazing.”

Though his Song of the Year nomination wasn’t a complete shock, he says another one of the nods was, and he offers praise for a fellow artist in the category, Chris Stapleton. “The one that really took me by surprise was Male Vocalist,” Rhett admits. “Everybody knows that Stapleton is forever the Male Vocalist of the Year, so just to be in a category with a voice like that is mind-blowing. So that took me by surprise, and I’m very, very honored to be in that category.”

Rhett is up against Keith Urban's "Blue Ain't Your Color," "Humble and Kind" by Tim McGraw, Eric Church for "Kill a Word," Miranda Lambert's "Vice" and Stapleton's breakthrough rendition of "Tennessee Whiskey" for Song of the Year. He also faces off with Stapleton in the Male Vocalist of the Year category, along with Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley and Urban.

The 52nd annual ACM Awards air live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas at 8PM ET on April 2. Luke Bryan and Bentley join forces for the second year in a row to host the show.
