We told you the story before about how Steve Peterson saw a deer struggling in the ice, and took the time to get the deer out.  It was a very kind gesture, and an exciting rescue.  Now, PETA (People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals) has given him an award.

For his actions, PETA said it's giving Peterson a "Compassionate Action Award."

"This deer was able to escape a prolonged, painful, icy death, thanks to Steven Peterson's kindness in setting about to save her life," PETA Senior Director Colleen O'Brien said in a news release. "PETA hopes his actions will inspire others to come to the aid of any humans or animals in need."

You can read more about this story from The Duluth News Tribune.

Now, PETA and I haven't exactly seen eye to eye over the years, but this award is well deserved.  Nice job Steven!
