In a time where appetizers now cost as much as full entrees and are usually tiny sized, this is worth mentioning.  My wife and I had a rare date night last night, so we decided to go out for a couple of beers and a couple of appetizers.  What started as a "light dinner" idea, soon turned into an evening ending food coma.  But, you could argue it was worth it.

The place was Shorty's on Tower Avenue in Superior.  I've been there a handful of times in the past, and I've grown to love their Poutine.  It's a canadian dish, where they smother french fries with gravy.  You can add smoked meat too, which I always do.  Usually it was just a generous portion on a plate.

We though we would try the nachos as well, because it's one of our favorite apps.

We ordered, sipped our beer for a few minutes, and then watched as two servers came out carrying our plates.

The tables around us gasped.  "WHAT IS THAT?"   To be honest, it was kind of embarrassing ordering that much food.  There had to be at least 2 pounds worth of fries, and another 1/2 pound of toppings.  That "appetizer" could have fed 4 people as full meals, no doubt.  The nachos were gigantic as well.

But, it tasted fantastic, which is a bad combination.  Because we over ate.  It was a man vs food challenge, and our result was pathetic.

Yep, that's us finished.  We couldn't take another bite.  That's how far we got.   Barely dented it.

We got home at about 8pm, I crawled into bed and went to sleep.  The long work day topped off with a pound of carbs killed me.  But man, it was good.
