This year the DECC and the Arrowhead Home and Builder Show are both celebrating their 50 year anniversary. There has been many changes at the DECC throughout my lifetime, from the name change of the Duluth Arena to the DECC, to the addition of the Amsoil Arena, to the daily quest to utilize sustainability. One unique thing they are doing to be  sustainable is frying, seasoning and bagging their own chips.

While I was at the Boat, Sport, RV and Travel show this year I decided to try the bag of DECC House Made Chips I had seen at several of the UMD Bulldog games.  Loved the crunch!

Then, curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to know why the DECC took the time and energy to house make chips as an option to guests at various events, after all isn't it easier to just buy them pre-bagged?  Thanks to Kim, an event planner at the DECC I was able to meet with Chef Peter in the DECC kitchen and get the scoop.

Thank you to Chef Peter for opening his kitchen to us and the administration and staff at the DECC for making the conscious choice to be sustainable in so many ways.  For me, it means delicious crunchy chips!
