May 3, 2012 More and more bikes are hitting the road as the spring weather continues to warm up. That's why May Is "Motorcycle Awareness Month", and the NHTSA has provided tips for both motorists and motorcyclists to stay safe and share the road.
April 20, 2012 Saturday, April 21st is the 23rd annual Fitgers 5k in downtown Duluth. This year there are a record 1,848 registered participants set to run and walk in the morning race. The Fitgers 5k is one of the first spring road races in the Northland, and a race I enjoy running in despite the hills of the bridge over the freeway. This race is also the largest fundraising event for the Young Athletes Foundation, a Grandma's Marathon program focused on the promotion and development of youth athletics in a five-county region.
The race starts at 9am at Fitgers, 600 East Superior Street, where it will also finish. Expect traffic delays from 8:30am to to 10am along the race course.
November 18, 2011 Christmas City, wonderful city....From The City Of Duluth Police Department, here are traffic and parking information for the Friday evening event:
On Friday, November 18, 2011, the 53rd AnnualChristmasCity of the North Parade will be held on Superior Street in Downtown Duluth starting at 6:20 p.m.
The parade route will be the same as last year. Parade units will assemble on Railroad Street. The parade will travel east on Railroad Street to Lake Avenue, North across the Lake Avenue Viaduct, then turn west on Superior Street to the termination point at 5th Avenue West.
Traffic diversions will start at 2:00p.m.
July 5, 2011 If traffic camera go in every major city, do you think that would be fair? Well, there are two schools of thought. 1...you shouldn't be speeding or going through red lights anyway, if you were driving according to the law, you would never get a ticket. 2....there's that part of you that feels like you are getting away with something when no one is around. There are rumours this would be a way for states to raise their traffic revenue and avoid shutdowns....eh hem...Minnesota...with out raising taxes. June 13, 2011 Do you get out and watch Grandmas Marathon each year? If you done so recently, you should do something unique and act like a tourist in our own backyard by getting out for Grandmas Marathon this weekend. You'll find music, food and entertainment as well as thousands of runners to cheer from not only the region, but all over the world. This year marks the 35th annual running of this incredible event and I thought it would be good to share the best times and places to enjoy Grandmas Marathon, coming up bright and early this Saturday, June 18th.
Being a spectator is a great way to get involved in the Grandma's Marathon weekend festivities, without having to run 26.2 miles. The enthusiasm from our devoted fans adds tremendous excitement to the racecourse and gives athletes the incentive to keep striding toward the finish line. So get out there and cheer your heart out!

If you drive late, be careful because more fatal car crashes occur at 2am than any other time of day, while the safest time to drive is 8am on weekdays in the height of rush hour. This according to analysis of traffic from researchers at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. The big headliner from the study is that women are better drivers than men since men are more likely to take risks.
