How Will Fitgers 5k Impact Traffic Saturday Morning? Here Are The Details

Saturday, April 21st is the 23rd annual Fitgers 5k in downtown Duluth.  This year there are a record 1,848 registered participants set to run and walk in the morning race.  The Fitgers 5k is one of the first spring road races in the Northland, and a race I enjoy running in despite the hills of the bridge over the freeway.  This race is also the largest fundraising event for the Young Athletes Foundation, a Grandma's Marathon program focused on the promotion and development of youth athletics in a five-county region.

The race starts at 9am at Fitgers, 600 East Superior Street, where it will also finish.  Expect traffic delays from 8:30am to to 10am along the race course.

Traffic Cameras Might Be The New Answer To States Shortfall.

If traffic camera go in every major city, do you think that would be fair? Well, there are two schools of thought. 1...you shouldn't be speeding or going through red lights anyway, if you were driving according to the law, you would never get a ticket. 2....there's that part of you that feels like you are getting away with something when no one is around. There are rumours this would be a way for states to raise their traffic revenue and avoid shutdowns....eh hem...Minnesota...with out raising taxes. So now it's your turn, weigh in on this for me......comment at the bottom.

A Different View Of Motorcycle Safety

We all see the bumper stickers that say "Start Seeing Motorcycles," or the billboards from A.B.A.T.E. that caution motorists to share the road with motorcycles.  I've been big on motorcycle safety awareness because I have had cars pull out in front of me or merge in my lane without seeing me (or maybe not caring) many times

Are Women Better Drivers Than Men?

That is just part of a recent traffic analysis done.  If you drive late, be careful because more fatal car crashes occur at 2am than any other time of day, while the safest time to drive is 8am on weekdays in the height of rush hour. This according to analysis of traffic from researchers at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. The big headliner from the study is that women are better drivers than men since men are more likely to take risks.
