The Twin Ports have seen a string of hot weather this summer, and there's plenty more on the way. With summer being short in this area, are you enjoying every minute of the heat or trying to to avoid it until it cools down again?
Between 7 and 9 inches of rain fell on the Twin Ports in less than 24 hours; leading to devastating damage to homes, businesses, and roads that will take weeks, if not months to fully recover. Here is a taste of what was captured through the day as the cleanup began.
June 19, 2012 As the relentless rain continues to fall in the Northland, our partners with the Northland's News Center are reporting that tonight the Northland will continue to see severe weather moving throughout our region dropping copious amounts of rain with each passing system. Heavy flooding has already been reported and will continue with hourly rainfall between 3-4 inches. In any event of a water covered road, notify emergency management and turn around avoiding any and all flooded roads.

May 30, 2012 Six days of rain resulted in 5+ inches of rain in the Northland, but that won't affect the much anticipated Superior Downtown Farmer's Market.
Of course, some farmers will see a change in their crops and they are still battling frost warnings in the evenings, but you'll still see the fruits of their efforts all summer long in the North parking lot of the Superior Public Library at the corner of Belknap and Ogden. Here's a little of what you can expect.
Three fires in West Duluth this morning have Twin Ports authorities beginning to suspect a serial arsonist is hitting targets in Duluth and Superior. This morning's blazes add to a list of arson fires in the Twin Ports that has grown to nine since March.
In what appears to be the ultimate in messy break-ups, a woman in Superior aired the couple's dirty laundry in a yard near the intersection of 21st Street and East 9th Avenue. The sight caught the attention of passers by, prompting a couple pictures popping up on Facebook through the day and Superior Police and news teams appearing in the afternoon.
Severe weather season is here, and we're bound to see our fair share of thunderstorms through the course of the summer. While we all accept the possibility of severe thunderstorms as part of the season, there seems to be a perception that the Duluth/Superior area is impervious to tornadoes for some reason. Maybe it's the big hill "shielding us", maybe it's being "up north" and away from what we think of as tornado country, or maybe it's the giant lake on our doorstep. While rare, these dangerous summer phenomenon do appear in our area from time to time.
April 10, 2012 We've seen the old gas stations closed down for years on the corner of 28th and Superior. I had heard rumors about their being a new CVS pharmacy being built there for quite some time.
Looks like it's getting started. I noticed on Thursday that the excavators were parked by the gas stations, and this morning they began demolishing the old buildings to make room for one of three new CVS pharmacy's coming to the Twin Ports.
March 27, 2012 With the unseasonably warm weather, we definitely have an early spring. This weekend we spent quite a bit of time cleaning up the yard and gathering up some brush. However, the dates for the Annual Spring Clean Up remain the same. Here's the schedule.
February 23, 2012 It may not exactly be the Mega Storm, but compared to the tame winter we've had this could provide some fun. I may actually get to use my snow blower! It's always easier to get snow this time of year than in the Fall because we know it won't be here for months on end.
A large area of low pressure coupled with a trough in the jetstream is prognosticated to sweep over the Northland into Sunday and Monday.
