The shores of Barker's Island were packed this weekend with fans of the growing sport of watercross, which made its debut in the Twin Ports with the Superior Watercross Shootout.

It will be an exciting weekend at Barker's Island in Superior as the IWA brings their high speed racing action to the Twin Ports this weekend, here is the racings and event schedule so don't miss a second of the action!

The first ever Superior Watercross Shootout is just a few days away, and excitement around the Twin Ports is quickly growing before the snowmobiles hit the water at Barker's Island. Leading up to the event, we decided to have a contest to have one of our local talented singers perform the National Anthem.

This morning we had the chance to interview International Watercross Racers Kurt Mattila about the upcoming races this weekend in Ely, MN.  He answered questions like, How often do the sleds sink, what kind of modifications do the sleds go through, and more.

We are less than two weeks away from a weekend of high speed, high excitement racing at Barker's Island for the Superior Watercross Shootout, thousands of fans will gather to watch the hottest IWA drivers race and sometimes sink their modified snowmobiles.

The International Watercross Association's Superior Watercross Shootout will bring racers and fans from around the country to Barker's Island in Superior August 17 and 18. Among the group of participants in this year's race events, Mike Simmons will be the only driver that calls the Twin Ports home.
