Congratulations to the Hermantown Hawks!  They advance to the State Hockey Tournament next week.  The excitement continues in the Northland with tonight's 7AA game at the Amsoil.  You can hear all the action as it happens by listening to 560 WEBC and can watch the game as it progresses with our media partners WDIO-WIRT.

A second period goal by junior forward Jack Kolar was all the Duluth East Greyhounds needed in their first state tournament game today.  The Greyhounds defeated Moorhead 1-0 in their Minnesota Class 2A high school boys hockey quarterfinal game at Xcel Energy Center.

Win or lose, we're proud of all the Northland teams competing this week in the state tournament!   Matt Colford saw the sign. “No. 23, Score For Me!” Colford, a Breck junior forward, said it might have been his little sister, 7-year-old Molly, waving the oversized, encouraging words. Or possibly his cousin.

Hermantown jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead but it wasn't enough as they fell in the Class A title game of the boys hockey state tournament.  The Hawks fought hard against St Thomas Academy, and some...ummm...interesting refereeing in my opinion,
