Minneapolis Rallies Support For New Vikings Stadium

Another update on the soap opera I like to call 'As The Stadium Turns..'
In an effort to show support for a new stadium to both legislators and fence-sitting City Council members, Minneapolis city, labor and business leaders joined together Monday to underscore that a new Vikings stadium would mean 7,500 union jobs for Minnesota's hard-pressed construction industry.

Vikings, Mpls. Now Looking At A Stadium Site Next To The Dome

I wonder if there will be a day when we solve this issue.  At least the focus is now in the same area.

Minneapolis and Minnesota Vikings officials said Monday they're scrutinizing a parcel of land next to the Metrodome in hopes of continuing to play at the old stadium while the new one is under construction.

Wilf ‘Optimistic’ About Metrodome Site, But Problems Remain

Of course, don't rule out Arden Hills either.  It's crunch time for the Vikings stadium decision.

Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf emerged from a three-hour meeting Wednesday in Gov. Mark Dayton’s office and said he was “optimistic” that the team’s new stadium could be built at the Metrodome.

But Wilf, the governor, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and others painted a disjointed picture of how much progress was being made toward a new stadium, with Rybak again insisting that the city would not participate financially unless there was also monetary relief for Minneapolis’ Target Center.

Vikings: New Metrodome Stadium Has Hidden Costs

Stadiums are just like cell phone bills!  Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak did say the city is aware of the concern and is taking it into consideration.  The soap opera, 'As The Stadium Turns' continues.

The Minnesota Vikings said Tuesday that building a new stadium at the Metrodome, when including the costs of playing three seasons at the University of Minnesota during construction, would add $67 million to the project’s cost.

Dayton Sets Deadline For Vikings Stadium Proposals

Will they stay or will they go?  Looks like we will know this year the fate of the stadium and, ultimately, the Minnesota Vikings.  It's good to set dates so it just doesn't linger out there forever, right?

Accelerating the push for a new Minnesota Vikings stadium, Gov. Mark Dayton sent letters Thursday to Ramsey County and Minneapolis setting

Minneapolis City Council Skeptical About Stadium Plan

This shouldn't come as a surprise.  A skeptical city council?!  Wow!  I kind of get some of the opposing points, but I don't agree at all that the only one that would benefit from a stadium are the team owners.

Mayor R.T. Rybak encountered a deeply skeptical City Council Thursday after pitching his plan to keep the Vikings in Minneapolis.

Mayor Rybak: Minneapolis Would Contribute $300M To New Stadium At Dome

Why do I have a feeling that after all the posturing and debating, the Vikings will end up with a new stadium right where the Dome sits now?

Dayton, Legislators: Maybe Watching A Vikings Game Would Help Get Everyone On The Same Page

Hey, whatever it takes to get this stadium issue resolved right?  I picture a bunch of guys in Polo shirts and Dockers watching a game together.  Wonder if they will have beer and nachos?  What I really think they should do is watch a game together at the Metrodome.  Then they will see the passion of the fans inside and outside of the stadium and how busy nearby businesses are for the game.

Maybe if everyone just sat down and watched a Minnesota Vikings game things would work out.

Ramsey County Board Approves Land Deal In Arden Hills For Vikings Stadium

It seems like it's always one step forward and two steps back when it comes to a new Minnesota Vikings stadium.  For people who wish the Minnesota Vikings would stay in Minnesota, is this a good sign or is it just more smoke in hopes of moving a stadium plan forward?
Ramsey County Board members on Tuesday unanimously approved a $28.5 million purchase of 430 acres in Arden Hills with the goal of using it for a Minnesota Vikings stadium if the state finds the money to pay for it.

Vikings Stadium Plan Takes A Beating At Ramsey County Hearing

Not a great meeting for those in favor of a Minnesota Vikings stadium to keep the team in the state.  I think everyone has the right to an opinion, as long as you take time to educate yourself.  When you hear an argument like telling owner Zygi Wilf to build his own "playground" it makes you realize how misinformed the most opinionated people seem to be.
The Minnesota Vikings stadium proposal took a beating at a packed Ramsey County public hearing Wednesday night that would have knocked defensive lineman Kevin Williams on his back.

Are The Vikings Done In Minnesota?

If you were to use the magic 8 ball it would say, "All signs point to yes".

According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Vikings have issued a four page statement with the last sentence being, “This solution must be finalized in the 2011 session.”

I think owner Zigi Wilf did the best he could with Favre mach 1. That was supposed to be the Super Bowl team that would make all of Minnesota force the lawmakers to give them a new stadium.
