If you see some random signs on posts throughout Duluth promoting positive thinking, you can thank a former Duluth East Grad for all his hard work.

Those who violate sign placement law could be charged with a misdemeanor. Furthermore, civil penalties may also apply if placement leads to a crash or injury.

When we were running in the beautiful Northland weather this past week I saw the orange snow fence by the Aerial Lift Bridge and didn't even think twice.  By the end of the week there was something new on the bridge that caught my eye.  New electronic signs indicating to foot traffic when it was safe to cross!

Signs are usually important. Well, besides the confusing sort or the total fails. But even those serve to share notable information with fellow citizens, or at least attempt to do so. But there are the select few signs that are unnecessary. Like, really unnecessary.

Street signs should be some of the easiest signs to proofread.

The City of Duluth’s Planning Division would like to hear from businesses, sign companies, residents, and other interested stakeholders concerning the current rules and regulations that govern signs in the city of Duluth.
