The Duluth Police Department announced this week they are part of statewide patrol campaign to make sure motorists are following Minnesota's seat belt laws.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety has begun their 'Click It Or Ticket' campaign, to raise awareness of Minnesota's seat belt law and to raise awareness about how important it is to wear your seat belt.
While I wear my seat belt every time I get into a vehicle, I know people who don't. If you're one of those people, you may want to change your ways because there is now extra enforcement on the roads looking for people who haven't buckled up.
The state still isn't all the way to the ultimate goal, but it's a little bit closer. In a press release from Northeast Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths, it was announced that Northeastern Minnesota new seat belt compliance rate is 80.5 percent, reflecting a slight increase— last year’s belt use rate was 80.3 percent.
Ken and I were just talking about this during the Breakfast Club Morning Show. The fact that when I was young (dating myself, but in the late 60's, early 70's), wearing your seat belt wasn't a law. In fact, it was a rare occurrence to see someone wearing their seat belt. Don't get me wrong, they were there to be used, just, no one did.
