It never fails. Every December people go through the ice. Last week it was a truck that went thru on Lake Vermilion. This week it's a couple of guys that broke through with their snowmobile.

We often hear people in the Northland complain about things like the weather and the roads, but living here does provide plenty of benefits over other parts of the country. For example, did you know that Duluth was named of the best cities to live in to survive a nuclear apocalypse?

There's a lot of hate for roundabouts. Maybe it's because some people are confused by them, or are just resistant to change. According the Wisconsin DOT there are many benefits to the roundabouts. Here's what they've found.

It seems there has been so many recalls lately that when I see one, I glance over it and think, "oh it's just another recall".  But, we need to consciously remember to take them seriously, especially one like this that involves a product that is suppose to be designed to keep our children safe.

I was a shockingly disturbing video that was going around Facebook yesterday.  A ridiculous amount of drivers fail to stop for school buses when their sign is extended. They even show some close calls too.  It is the law to stop for school buses with their lights flashing.

Check your smoke detectors, replace your batteries, test them out, and let's try to be safe!  There has been a huge amount of house fires in the last few weeks.

Working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are crucial safety devices every home should have. While it is important to have them in your home, it is also important to make sure they are installed properly. If these devices are not properly placed in your home, their effectiveness in alerting you to a problem can be impacted.

With technology changing in vehicles today, some of the training that you got when you were in high school might be wrong or cause injury. How you hold your hands on the steering wheel will make a huge difference.

If you can remain calm while watching this video, there is something wrong with you.  This string of accidents happened back in 2014 in Montana, and they are using it as a tool to teach drivers to slow down!  Traffic whizzes by within inches of a woman who was ejected after an accident on GLARE ice roads.

I'm guessing this video might be back from the early 1990's and I had to laugh a bit when I first started watching it.  But believe it or not, I actually learned a few things from it.  It's a good overview for ice safety and guidlines for getting out there.  A lot of people are anxious to get out soon, but remember, we need a solid 4" before walking out!
