As the relentless rain continues to fall in the Northland, our partners with the Northland's News Center are reporting that tonight the Northland will continue to see severe weather moving throughout our region dropping copious amounts of rain with each passing system. Heavy flooding has already been reported and will continue with hourly rainfall between 3-4 inches. In any event of a water covered road, notify emergency management and turn around avoiding any and all flooded roads.

Driving home from Minneapolis this afternoon, I was so happy that I was not driving south on I-35.  While construction did limit us to one lane at times, it didn't cause much if any delay.  Those people traveling south, on the other hand, were pretty much sitting still beginning around Sandstone.  I can only imagine how long it took those people to get to their destination.  'Tis the season and on Monday we will have some new construction across the Northland.

On Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011, neighborhoods throughout Duluth are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 28th Annual National Night Out Crime and Drug Prevention event.

National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Duluth Police Department.

It will involve over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.
