Picking my Country Throwback this week didn't take long at all. This week is also the week of our annual B105 Cares For St. Jude Kids Radiothon, and this year we could top the $1 million dollar mark in terms of total money raised as a community to help this tremendous cause.
Today, Johnny Cash would've been 83 years-old. The Man In Black passed away in 2003, but his music continues to influence artists from all genres of music. In honor of the day, Johnny Cash is featured in this weeks Country Throwback.
A new dance video for Sam Hunt's "Leave the Night On" exemplifies his willingness to push country music's boundaries further than perhaps anyone before him. It could earn him an ACM this spring, or maybe just a sweet performance of the chart-topping song. Hunt and hip-hop choreographer Matt Steffanina teamed up to create the video, available during this exclusive Taste of Country premiere.
The band A Thousand Horses has been around since they formed in Nashville in 2010. That year they released a self titled EP with Interscope Records. That didn't get the response they had hoped and they next signed with Republic Nashville. That was a great move as they now have their first hit.
This is pretty creative! David Unger Music, also known as DUM composes original songs and inserts the music into movie parodies. For example, he inserts himself and others into the classic Star Wars. You've got to see it!
As Lady Antebellum releases more videos, they show more and more of their sense of humor. When it came to making a video for their new song "Freestyle", they continued that trend by getting Keith Apicary to be the star.
Christmas is only a couple weeks away, so what better time to get in the holiday spirit with my Country Throwback. This week, let's visit a song that has appeared on the country singles chart seven different times since 1993.
Recently Entertainment Weekly magazine named "The Outsiders" by Eric Church one of the best albums of the year. It was the only country album to make their list, and the song "Talladega" was listed as a big reason why.
