Ramsey County Board Approves Land Deal In Arden Hills For Vikings Stadium

It seems like it's always one step forward and two steps back when it comes to a new Minnesota Vikings stadium.  For people who wish the Minnesota Vikings would stay in Minnesota, is this a good sign or is it just more smoke in hopes of moving a stadium plan forward?
Ramsey County Board members on Tuesday unanimously approved a $28.5 million purchase of 430 acres in Arden Hills with the goal of using it for a Minnesota Vikings stadium if the state finds the money to pay for it.

Report: Christian Ponder Named Vikings Starter For Sunday

Not exactly a shock, I would have been more shocked if McNabb was named the starter.  The Vikings have nothing to lose and they need to see if Ponder can play as they look to their future.  What better way to get introduced to the league than by playing the Super Bowl champs.  What do you think, is Ponder the future?

Adrian Peterson Powers Vikings To 1st Win

The Vikings are well on their way to a 12-4 record this season, right?

Adrian Peterson rammed his way into the end zone to make Minnesota's early lead even larger, lowering his shoulder to finish the run as if to pour four weeks of frustration out on his unsuccessful tackler.

Are The Vikings Done In Minnesota?

If you were to use the magic 8 ball it would say, "All signs point to yes".

According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Vikings have issued a four page statement with the last sentence being, “This solution must be finalized in the 2011 session.”

I think owner Zigi Wilf did the best he could with Favre mach 1. That was supposed to be the Super Bowl team that would make all of Minnesota force the lawmakers to give them a new stadium.

Vikings One Step Closer To Leaving As Legislators Call For Vote On Stadium?

No stadium, no more Minnesota Vikings.  Even if you aren't a sports fan, if you live in Minnesota you must realize the millions of dollars in revenue the state will lose if they leave.  Meanwhile the average citizen would feel zero impact in regards to the cost to build it.   The Minnesota Twins got a stadium with out a vote and it has rejuvenated the area and has been a boon for area businesses and the state.  If Minnesota starts to lose professional sports franchises, then Minnesota becomes Iowa -- only colder.

The state's top two legislative leaders now want local voters to have a say in a new Minnesota Vikings stadium project, a move that potentially creates a major obstacle for the plan.

Will Brett Farve Return?

Not only are we sitting on the edge of our stadium seats, well....if we get a stadium.....to find out if we are going to have a NFL season at all, we are also silently watching to see what Brett Farve will do this year.  Retire?  Coach? Commentary (no, not that one, he's a terrible interview!)  Play football again?  But, with who?  Speculation is:  he might return!

Will They Stay Or Will They Go? The Minnesota Vikings May Have A Friday Deadline For Stadium

Remember when the Minnesota North Stars left?  The first thing the state did was put together a plan to get an NHL franchise back.  If the Minnesota Vikings leave, that will happen again but there are no guarantees of the state getting another team nor would it be deserving of one if they lose the Vikings.  The difference is right now the state and Vikings have an opportunity to work things out, if both sides sincerely want to.  If they don't I believe we'll see the Minnesota Vikings move to L.A.

Minnesota Vikings owners and Gov. Mark Dayton emerged from a summitmeeting Tuesday pledging to try to plug by Friday a funding hole of up to $131 million in the team's proposed new $1 billion Arden Hills home.

That hole appeared no smaller after Dayton reiterated

Vikings, Ramsey County Strike Potential Stadium Deal

Is this the solution to the Minnesota Vikings stadium issue or is it a last effort that is destined to be held up in political games, causing Minnesota to lose its beloved franchise?  It sounds like both parties are excited and they both realize the amount of money the state will kick in, so perhaps there will be a happy ending for Vikings fans.
The Minnesota Vikings and Ramsey County announced an agreement on Tuesday to build a $1 billion football stadium with a retractable roof in Arden Hills, capping a furious day of last-minute negotiations and brushing aside concerns from Gov. Mark Dayton and others that the project may be seriously flawed.

Surprised By Vikings Ponder Pick? Don’t Be

I was watching the NFL Draft last night and when the Vikings took Florida State QB Christian Ponder with the 12th overall selection, the mood of those I was watching with was not great.  There were several well known names on the defensive side of the ball still available to take, but the Vikings wanted a QB.  They liked Ponder and didn't want to lose him to Washington, who were poised to take him 4 picks later if you believe that rumor.  CBS Sports graded the Vikings pick an "A" as they are high on Ponder too, but there are many fans who need a lot of convincing on taking him so high.

Judge Orders End To NFL Lockout; Appeal Expected

As this year's NFL draft approaches, there is still not collective bargaining agreement and players are locked out, but the first judge order does favor the players.  Of course, if this dispute stays in the court system it could drag on endlessly with appeals so hopefully the two sides can work it out on their own.  However, even with an appeal looming, this decision has to irk the owners who appear to be losing some leverage in this dispute.  Perhaps now the owners may be more willing to be more flexible to end this dispute altogether and let the NFL get back to work.
A federal judge on Monday ordered an end to the NFL lockout, giving the players an early victory in their fight with the owners over how to divide the $9 billion business.
