Senate Approves Vikings Stadium Bill With Changes Of Their Own

Monday the House passed a stadium plan with some modifications.  Tuesday it was the Senates turn and after 11 hours of debate, they also have passed a Vikings stadium bill by a vote of 38-28.  Like the House, the Minnesota Senate made changes and now the two sides must compromise before sending the bill to its final destination to be signed by Governor Mark Dayton.

Vikings Stadium Plan Passes Minnesota House; Ownership Asked To Pay More

In a big step forward for those who support a new stadium for the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota House voted 73-58 to approve a public subsidy package for a new stadium, The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.  It will now head toward the state Capitol for final passage.  The stadium project could go to the Senate for a vote as soon as today.  If all goes well, it could be ready for Governor Mark Dayton to sign into law by the end of the week.  However, Viking's owner Zygi Wilf may not be 100% pleased with the plan that was passed.

Vikings Appear To Have Had Successful Draft, But Time Will Tell

The 2012 NFL draft is over and now all the experts come out and analyze each and every pick and project whether it was a good draft or not.  If you're a Vikings fan, it is great to see that they are receiving overall positive grades on their draft, especially the first round.  To me, it's all about trying to fill needs on your team with the best athlete available based on advice of the people you trust in the organization.

Vikings Work Trade, Then Take Kalil With No. 4 Pick

I thought the Minnesota Vikings handled their first pick in the NFL draft perfectly.  Ultimately, they wanted nasty LT Matt Kalil and would've been happy to take him with the 3rd pick.  However, Cleveland feared they may lose the player they wanted so they moved up to the 3rd pick in a trade that moved the Vikings to the 4th pick.  In a nutshell, the Vikings got the player they wanted, paid less for him, and then acquired 3 additional picks from Cleveland.  They then used that Cleveland trade to move back into the first round to get Notre Dame safety Harrison Smith in the 1st round.

Only time will tell how everything shakes out, but I think these moves were great in that they added athletes to a Vikings roster that desperately needs them.  What do you think of the Vikings first round moves?

Vikings Stadium Bill Moves In Senate, House Push Next; Floor Votes Look More Likely

The Minnesota Vikings stadium issue appears to inching close to a resolution, but we've been here before only to find things going backwards.  However, Roger Goddell's recent visit seems to have educated the legislators on the reality that the state could lose the franchise in 2013.

NFL Turns Up Heat: ‘There Are Plenty Of Willing Buyers’ For Vikings

What a year of embarrassment for the state of Minnesota.  It wasn't long ago we made headlines with the shutdown.  Now our "leaders" are being  scrutinized across the country once again.  Regardless of your stance on the stadium issue, everyone should be concerned with the inability to communicate and work together amongst leadership.  They play games and pout.  As I mentioned yesterday, the chances the Vikings will leave Minnesota are now stronger than the chances they will stay.   The lions share of the blame can be placed on elected officials who dragged their feet for 6 years.  I don't know if  it was arrogance or ignorance, or a healthy dose of both on their part.

Vikings Trade 1st Round Pick To Tampa Bay! At Least I Think They Should

I love to follow the drama that is the NFL Draft.  I have been reading so many mock drafts that have the Vikings taking the very safe and good pick in OT Matt Kalil.  Then there are those who think the Vikings should roll the dice with flashy WR Justin Blackmon.

Peterson Rehab Has Vikings Optimistic

I realize football is a ways away, but with the draft approaching it's a hot topic.  For Minnesota Vikings fans, Adrian Peterson's knee will now always be a hot topic because he is such a crucial part of the any success the team may have.  You take him out of the mix and you have, umm..give me a minute....Okay, you have Percy Harvin but nobody fears the Vikings offense at all without Peterson in there.

For us in the Northland, it's a road trip to see this team in person so we at least want think we have a chance.  With that said, the news regarding Adrian Peterson is met with guarded enthusiasm.

Vikings’ Chris Cook Found Not Guilty On All Counts

This should make it a lot easier for the Vikings to keep Cook on the team if they so desire.  Do you think the Vikings should welcome him back with open arms or should there be some type of penalty for putting himself in this situation?

Vikings Agree To Terms With Tight End Carlson

While not a blockbuster deal, the Vikings have signed a free agent. Perhaps they are looking at the successful Patriots offense that features 2 talented tight ends and a great slot receiver in Wes Welker.  This signing gives them 2 young and talented tight ends to put on the field with Percy Harvin.

State Contribution To New Vikings Stadium: $398 Million

I think today brought fantastic news in that the Minnesota Vikings are as close as they've been to staying put and having a new facility that will help the entire state.  There are still some political obstacles to get over, but the momentum is positive.

After days of intense, closed-door meetings, DFL Gov. Mark Dayton and the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday morning announced an agreement for what the governor called, "a new people's stadium" in downtown Minneapolis.

Republicans: Vikings Should Only Get Loan For New Stadium

Well, this should go over like a fart in church.  If a pro sports team is of no benefit to the state, then all the businesses and people that benefit from having a professional franchise should not have to pay taxes.  Perhaps then these pantloads would see just how big of a benefit such franchises are to the state.

Saying that they had the only Minnesota Vikings stadium plan that could pass the Legislature, three Republican senators offered a plan
