Grandmas Marathon Reopens Registration In Wake Of Minneapolis Marathon Cancellation

Dangerous thunderstorms Sunday morning forced the cancellation of the Minneapolis Marathon.  This must be so hard for the runners who train long and hard for the race, only to have their moment taken away due to weather.

Minneapolis Council Approves Stadium In Premliminary Vote Thursday

Before this most recent Vikings stadium saga, the Minneapolis city council approved the idea of a stadium using redirected sales taxes.  It was a very close vote, with the council approving by a vote count of 7 votes in favor and 6 opposed.  Armed with the belief that the city council would approve a stadium, Governor Mark Dayton and other Viking stadium supporters went to work on a bill and then the the roller coaster ride began in full.

Tentative Vikings Stadium Deal Is Set

The latest update in 'As The Stadium Turns'.  It appears there is a tentative in place but, as you will see, there are a couple big hurdles to overcome before there would be an official green light.  Of course, this is an election year too so you never know what crazy things will happen.

Minneapolis City Council Passes Taxi Cab Credit Requirement

This just passed in Minneapolis and I think it should hit the Northland too.  I took a cab in Minneapolis this summer and was happily surprised they took check cards or credit cards, not just cash.  As this story supports, my tip to the cab drive was a little more than if I had to pay cash so I think it's a win for everyone over time.  Thoughts?

Our thoughts are with the families to our south suffering through this difficult time.  While we had unfavorable weather in the Northland, we can be grateful we didn't have the severe weather they experienced in Minneapolis.  It appears the fatality occurred near 37th and Fremont Avenues and the person killed was in their car.

We Get Massive Winds And Little Snow But Twin Cities Getting Slammed Again

The Twin Ports is under a winter advisory for most of today into Monday morning, nothing we can't handle.  However if traveling to the Twin Cities or further south is in you plans in the next 24 hours,  Twin Cities Meteorologist Paul Douglas says you may want to think twice.  Delta has already canceled 700 flights.  Can you believe another big storm this season is missing us to the south?  So how bad will it be there?
