Michael Jackson would have been 54 today. Do you remember where you were on June 25, 2009, when you heard the news he had passed? I'll never forget. We were in the truck laughing and excited, on our way to Country Fest. Soon, Homie and I were talking about our favorite Michael Jackson songs and what they reminded us of in our lives. In honor of his birthday, here's my rendition of "Thriller" that I performed with the Minnesota Ballet's inaugural "Celebrity Dance Challenge". (Don't laugh!)

In 2007, I had the honor of participating in the Celebrity Dance Competition, a fundraiser for the MN Ballet. Because it's Halloween, I thought I would resurrect the dance I learned from my Pro, Dan. It's to Thriller, by Michael Jackson. Interesting to note, I was very sick this evening, but had practiced for a month and didn't want to let Dan down, so I performed anyhow. Dan and I took Judges Choice. Audience Choice went to Pat Kelley that year. Enjoy (your laugh)!!!

With the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray continuing, it's sad that THIS is what everyone will think of, when they remember Michael Jackson. He should be remembered for his mild manner, contribution to music and his fantastic dance moves that we all tried to copy, but just couldn't quite get the hang of.

According to an article in this month's Vanity Fair, eccentric superstars Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando were in New York to see a concert performance by their good friend Michael Jackson when the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11 occurred. Fearing more terrorism, Jackson moved his entire entourage, which included Taylor and Brando, to New Jersey the day after the World Trade Center towers fell.

At that point, with all flights cancelled, Jackson rented a car and headed West with Taylor and Brando in tow.
