I have always been afraid of Lake Superior in the aspect that the weather can change so quickly. My heart goes out to this family and their friends. It appears they did exactly what I, or anyone would have done. They got off the lake and onto land at the end of Minnesota Point, near the Wisconsin entry, for safety. Only to be struck by lightning, all seven affected to some degree.

Sometimes I hate the fact that I am so busy I don't take the time to learn and understand all there is to offer, even when it's something I can't see. I look at Lake Superior several times a day. I appreciate the beauty, most of the time I curse the cold, forceful wind, and on hot days, I am happy to have the Lake too cool off in while heating up on the beach while getting a tan. But, there's a lot going on UNDER the water that is out of sight, out of mind.

I remember growing up and hearing my parents telling me to respect Lake Superior as it is so dangerous. We've already had one young person perish in the lake this year, now we almost had a second.

Duluth, MN has gotten lucky! Three major snow storms have passed to the South of us, leaving us balking at the local forecasters. However, the last one DID bring 50+ mph winds. Artistic Mother Nature used Lake Superior waves and Park Point as her canvas for some phenomenal nature artwork, I just HAD to share.
