You're invited to attend the Parks and Recreation Commission's annual meeting on Wednesday, April 2nd beginning at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the Spirit Mountain Grand Avenue Chalet located at 8551 Grand Avenue. The evening will feature author Sam Cook!

As we mentioned earlier this week, the Leif Erickson Viking ship will be moved tomorrow morning. Now the City has announced that the move will cause a temporary closure of the lakewalk for much of the day tomorrow.
The Leif Erickson Viking ship that is currently in Leif Erickson park will be lifted by crane and moved this Thursday to the City of Duluth's Park and Recreation building. There it will undergo more restoration and repairs. From that point it will be moved to it's permanent location, which has yet to be decided.
Lakeside Lester Park Soccer Club is looking for the community support at a meeting this next Monday, June 17th, at the Portman Community Club. The Duluth Parks & Rec department will discuss the proposal starting at 6:30.
Flag Football is one of the fastest growing sports throughout the country. This is the 12th season of this league that teaches sportsmanship through a non-contact sport. Flag Football will also teach both boys and girls in grades 2 through 5 the fundamentals of football. Plus, they'll make new friends, exercise and have fun!

Spring break week in Duluth is April 18-22. While kids are looking forward to a break from school, parents are wondering what they're going to do to occupy their free time that will keep them from being a permanent fixture in front of the TV or video games. The Duluth Parks and Rec Department is helping with Spring Break Week Activities at the Heritage Sports Center.
