duluth housing market

Yesterday I was looking through Facebook when I saw a post that linked to a Craigslist rant.  It's since been removed, but the message was "how do landlords expect us to pay $900-$1300 a month for rent?"   Also, "It would be cheaper to own a house."   In some cases, that is definitely true.  But why do landlords charge what they do for rent for homes?

My husband use to sell houses in the summer, so he has always been a "watcher" of the local housing market.  It is interesting to see how many houses were built in the city or  what the average market value of a home.  The City of Duluth has compiled an even more extensive list of interesting data.  Keep this in mind if you're in the market for a home now.
