Spring is here, which means outdoor construction and projects will be underway across the Northland.  Beginning this week, downtown Duluth will have projects and closures you should be aware of.

It's hard enough to get around our Downtown Duluth Government Offices, so many floors of offices with each one attending to a different need.  There's been a change since my previous blog, so if you are planning to make a trip to City Hall, here's the new information you need to know.

The Northland has several oil and gas pipelines and another is proposed, the Sandpiper Pipeline.  While the new pipeline will create many jobs the environmentalists are hoping for a different route.  If you have an opinion you want to share today is the day to do it!

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that we got the new doors.  We actually purchased them about two years ago, but because my husband has been doing "projects" for other people our home has always been put on hold.  I was SO excited when he began the install!  I asked what the little plastic baggie of white pieces were and was shocked to hear what I was suppose to do with them.

It's something that has been a source of frustration several times this summer.  My husband and I would keep forgetting part of the Bong Bridge was closed and drive in that direction only to have to turn around (we eventually started laughing at ourselves, DUH!).  But tomorrow that frustration is over as the Bong Bridge is scheduled to re-open!

It will be a memorable day with beautiful weather and the start of something BIG!  You are invited to the groundbreaking ceremony of Wade Stadium, home of the Huskies with potential for so much more!

You no doubt have seen all of the Kwik trip stores being constructed around the Northland.  Eight in total are going up this year.  Some are already nearing completion and the newest will be opening up in Superior before the end of the month.

The job market in the Northland is improving drastically.  With the addition of several restaurants, expansion of medical needs facilities and the construction of several buildings, there is the need for more construction trades employees.  If you are looking for a job or wanting a change this is valuable information you need to know!

If you work or do business in the downtown Duluth area, you should be aware of the construction that will be starting today until the project is complete.  They are finally going to take down the AT&T Communications Tower.  Here's the project's plan and what streets you'll need to avoid.

As a project to replace utilities gets set to begin, the city of Duluth is using the opportunity for a multi-million dollar redesign of Superior Street.

The design has changed from what was originally presented, but the soon to be built new Maurices headquarters will definitely give downtown Duluth a new, more modern look.
