The 2013 Lake Superior All-Conference Team was recently announced, and the roster features many big names from local section playoff action. Six Hermantown Hawks, five C-E-C Lumberjacks, Four Denfeld Hunters, two Superior Spartans make up this year's first team, second team, and honorable mention.
Rivals Duluth East Greyhounds and Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks hit the ice for a noon showdown at Amsoil Arena in Duluth for the Section 7AA semifinals on Saturday.
Five Duluth area teams remain in the race for a Minnesota Boys Hockey Tournament bid, including Hermantown, Duluth Denfeld, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton, Duluth Marshall, and Duluth East. All five of these teams will be in action Saturday, and ESPN 560 WEBC will have coverage of some of the action.
As part of the 'Our Town' series, I like to visit with the mayors from the cities we focus on. The Mayor of Cloquet is Bruce Ahlgren. The first time I saw Bruce, he was sitting in a dunk tank at this years 4th Of July celebration in Cloquet as kids threw balls to knock him into the water.

We've received word that there will be approximately 80 soldiers returning home Wednesday! The majority are from Crazy Troop, but other units are expected. They would love to see the community line the streets with banners and 'Welcome Home' signs as they drive into Cloquet.

As my family and I were gallivanting through the Northland on Sunday, we were surprised in the city of Cloquet by a HUGE bunny! It was just above the Veteran's Park on Hwy 33, across from the train and the famous Frank Lloyd Wright gas station building. Can you picture where it is?

Once again, I have gained appreciation for another occupation. I learned that walking a mile (or 3 hours) in a bartender's shoes makes for sore feet, beer-soaked jeans and wrinkly fingers!
