Weekend Box Office: 'Thor' Holds Top Spot; 'Bridesmaids' Debuts Strong

'Thor' continued to show its strength at the box office this weekend.

The Marvel superhero flick, starring breakout hunk Chris Hemsworth, took in an estimated $34.5 million, bringing its 10-day total to $119.3 million. Overall, 'Thor' was down 48 percent from last weekend, according to EW.com.

Summer movie season is here, and that means a full season of action movies, super hero movies and other such testosterone driven entertainment. This summer alone we have Thor, Transformers 3, Captain America, Super 8, another Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Hangover 2, and the list goes on and on. That's the good part. The bad part is how does a guy in a relationship get to all those movies when most are not exactly the first choice of the woman in your life.

This is the time of the year when the studios pull out their big guns for what's sure to be another epic summer movie season.

And it looks like there could be a few moneymakers this weekend, with the hilarious 'Bridesmaids' (from the producers of 'Knocked Up' and 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin') and the big screen adaptation of 'Priest' opening in a local Marcus Theatre.
