Ariel Lift Bridge

National Police Week runs through through Saturday. Friday, May 15, is National Peace Officers Memorial Day and fallen officers will be honored in Canal Park. You can see it all from the comfort of your home.

Duluth's annual Fourth Fest will once again be held in Bayfront Festival Park, with national recording artist Savannah Conley headlining the free event.

Duluth's Fourth Fest is tomorrow in Bayfront Festival Park, with gates opening at 4:00 p.m. and music at 4:30 p.m.  If being on Lake Superior is in your plans, then you should be aware of special operating hours for both the Ariel Lift Bridge and the Minnesota Slip Bridge (the blue bridge by the DECC).

It's not a great feeling to pull into Canal Park only to be greeted by a seemingly endless line of cars because the Ariel Lift Bridge is up.  A key to avoid getting bridged is knowing the bridge lift schedule.

With the Tall Ships Festival in town this weekend, traffic will be greatly increased throughout Canal Park.  This will also have an impact on the Minnesota Slip Bridge (the Blue Bridge in Canal Park) and the Aerial Lift Bridge.

Not long ago, I wrote about a public screening of 'Old Lifty', a web-based concept  pilot that was filmed in Duluth.  If you missed that opportunity, you can now watch the show online.

The last time Duluth was featured in a sitcom, it lasted just six episodes.  That was Louie Anderson's ill-fated 'The Louie Show', which aired on CBS in 1996.  Times have changed, so perhaps 'Old Lifty', a web-based sitcom featuring Duluth, will fare much better.

In 2012 Duluth's Ariel Lift Bridge was lit pink for breast cancer awareness and it not only drew a crowd, but a lot of buzz as well.  Every major cause has its colors and we may see the lift bridge representing them in the future.
