Sunday Is Armed Forces Appreciation Day at Target Field

Target Field is a great place to go even on a normal day, but Sunday is Armed Forces Appreciate Day which will include some great additional incentives to get you out to the ball game.

The Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota National Guard will present the Twin’s 12th annual Armed Forces Appreciation Day to honor veterans and active service members from all five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. This year the Minnesota Twins will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, the 40th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War and the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War. The ceremony will also include a flyover by 11 WWII-era aircraft.

Also, on game day, active military members or veterans with a valid ID plus four guests can receive half-price tickets in Home Plate View seating locations.

Starting at 12:20 p.m., there will be special pregame elements which will include:

• A flyover will be performed by 11 WWII-era aircraft.
• Honoring of the 34th Combat Aviation Brigade as they return from a 10-month deployment.
• Music performed by the Minnesota National Guard’s 34th Red Bull Infantry Division Rock Combo Band
• A special color guard representing the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War.
• A ceremonial first pitch thrown by General Shellito, Commissioner of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• A kayak will be displayed in the Suite Level to be signed by Gold Star family members during the event. The kayak will accompany Chris Ring, a former Navy Seal who is swimming the entire 2,552 miles of the Mississippi river in honor of fallen soldiers and their families.

Then the Minnesota Twins will wrap up their series against the Detroit Tigers, with first pitch scheduled for 1:10pm.
