Though 'Star Wars: Episode 7' may have sat out Comic-Con, now that it's a Disney product, it's possible we'll get the first big casting announcement this year at Disney's D23, which is coming in August. But news has broken that Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling are being talked about for the film, and that Gosling is up for the role of Luke Skywalker's son.

That's the news coming out of Latino Review, and they also mentioned that Leonardo DiCaprio stopped by to possibly audition as well, but passed because he's interested in 'Robotech'. It's possible that Efron is up for the role of Luke's kid as well, but if this is going to be about families, he seems a better fit as the child of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.

Though Efron is best known for his still squeaky clean image, and his time spent doing 'High School Musical,' he recently filmed 'Townies' with Seth Rogen, and that film is decidedly R-rated, so he's willing to show range. That said, fanboys will surely be upset if he gets cast. Whereas Gosling has the indie-film credential, but has shown in the past that he's willing to work with the studios in projects like 'Gangster Squad' (for better or worse). We'll be covering this as it develops.
