If you're looking for a volunteer opportunity that will truly make a difference in the lives of people in need, then Essential Health has the perfect opportunity.

St. Mary’s Hospice is looking for people dedicated to providing humane and compassionate care for patients so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible.

According to their press release,  there is an especially great need for volunteers along the North Shore and in Silver Bay, for people with musical skills, and for volunteers for military veterans.

Experience is not necessary as Essentia offers training for all volunteers in hospice philosophy, spiritual care, grief and bereavement, infection control and symptom management, among other things.

If you are interested, please attend the Hospice Volunteer Orientation Training from 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. on March 20, 22, 27, and 29 at St. Mary’s Medical Center at 407 East Third Street, Duluth.

All potential volunteers are asked to call (218) 786-4020 to register for the training beforehand.

Residents on the Iron Range who are interested in hospice volunteering may call (218) 749-7975 and in the Grand Rapids area residents may contact (218)327-8780 for more information.
