My wife and I had a very rare free afternoon today, so we went and caught the new movie starring Melissa McCarthy, "Spy."  I know Melissa McCarthy is funny, even if she doesn't really break any new ground, but that's ok.  I like to get what I expect sometimes.

Here's the trailer for the movie, in case you haven't seen it.

I judge a comedy by how many times I laugh out loud.  The laughs kept coming.  From start to finish, there were some great spots.  Her several interactions with Statham give some great one liners, but they happen so fast you really have to keep up.

The story line also follows her character Susan Cooper as she learns to empower herself and be the agent she can be.   While it's a comedy, at least there is a little bit of depth involved and you become invested in her character.

I'd give this one 3 out of 4 stars, which is pretty good for a comedy.
