Name: Linda and Darrell Johnson

Story: I met Darrell during study hall when I was in 10th grade and he was in 11th grade, when the teacher sent us out together to collect absent slips. We were both shy but hit it off. We married four years later and this past July we celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary! Where does time go? I still see in him the boy I met in high school despite the passage of time. I can't say it's been a bed of roses all these years; we've had our share of ups and downs. We've each had job layoffs (more than once), lost loved ones, shared the joy and sometimes hard work of raising two boys, and shared the responsibilities of home ownership. In other words, we've shared real life. The tough times taught us resiliency while the good times taught us how to count blessings. Darrell is not only my husband, he is my best friend. He makes me laugh, he's comforted me in times of sorrow. He i s a fabulous father to our boys. They have learned from us that tough times happen but it's not struggles that define us. It's hope, laughter, hard work, and most importantly, love. I can't say we are an "amazing" couple because I think we are ordinary people. But we are ordinary people lucky enough to travel the path of life with their best friend.
