Shots Fired in Superior Neighborhood

tony hart

What usually is a rather quiet neighborhood heard some gun shots last evening, causing a panicked scene near 24th Street North and John Avenue.  Multiple police cars responded to the 911 call around 5 pm Thursday night.

From the Superior Police Department:

Initial reports indicated that an armed subject was inside a nearby residence and several possible gunshots were heard. One occupant of the residence came outside and reported several possible gunshots followed by the smoke alarms activating. It was also reported that another occupant in the residence had been shouting for someone to call 911.

A short time later a W/M subject exited the home. This subject was excited and claimed that he had killed two people inside the residence. This subject was secured and Officers on scene proceeded to enter the residence. One unharmed child was located. No other persons were located and there was no evidence to indicate anyone had been harmed inside that residence.

It did appear that a firearm had been discharged in the residence. The W/M subject, who claimed to have shot two people, was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. This matter is still under investigation so no further details are available at this time.
