The City of Duluth will be working on a sewer cleaning project that is a prelude to a sewer lining project next month.  That means that for the week of September 26-29, a portion of 1st Avenue East in downtown Duluth will be closed. Here are the full details so you can plan ahead accordingly.

Part of this project requires them to do some repairs along 1st street, that's why there will be a temporary closure between 1st Street and Superior Street.  However, you can still use the sidewalks and alleys in this area.  They will need to use rather large equipment to get the job done and that will mean some lane shifting to accommodate.  You can expect the west bound lane of Superior Street to be shifted south an the road narrowed.  Obviously, with the shifting of the lane and narrowed roadway, there will be no parking allowed on that roadway, especially near the intersection.

Your best bet is to use an alternative route or be prepared to deal with some delays in that area.  As always, the City of Duluth thanks you for your understanding and cooperation.
