This morning we had the chance to talk with Jake Mataya, who will be racing tomorrow night at Amsoil Arena in the World Championship Ice Racing.  Our first question was how the heck do they get any traction?  We knew they used ice screws in their tires, but couldn't believe how many!

Jake says in the rear tire they have about 1,000 studs or screws, and in the front about 700-800.  According to him, you can get a lot of traction.   He rides a modified Honda 450, and  you can look for him tomorrow night.  He's wearing number 29.

So what's it look like in action?  Check out this video.
