Yesterday was a scary day for the Twin Ports, especially if you lived near the Husky Oil Refinery in Superior.

Around 10 am an explosion rocked the refinery and the city, sending several to the hospital.

The initial fire was put out quickly only to reignite around noon which caused authorities to evacuate a large portion of the city due to the heavy smoke and concern for more explosions.

Several staging areas for evacuees were set up including the Yellowjacket Union on the UWS campus. That location eventually shut down due to the evacuation zone expanding and evacuees were told to go to the DECC in Duluth.

The evacuation order lasted until 6 am this morning and now the work of cleanup and recovery begins.
