Scotty McCreery broke the mold with his performance slot on tonight's ABC special, 'CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock,' performing Travis Tritt's 1993 country classic 'T.R.O.U.B.L.E' for the TV airing rather than a tune from his own country music debut record, 'Clear as Day.'

Before the former 'American Idol' winner took the big stage, McCreery graciously sat down to answer a few pressing questions from his army of loyal fans.

"I'm not a spender," answered the 'Water Tower Town' singer when asked what he splurged on after his first big paycheck. "Probably went and got some chicken," he added, referring to his favorite North Carolina chicken joint, Bojangles.

As far as his dream duet partner, the young singer confessed he would love to share the stage with a legend like Dolly Parton or Loretta Lynn, but also has his eye on one of his contemporary counterparts. "I think Carrie Underwood would be pretty sweet," the 18-year-old singer shared.

Building on the success of his platinum-selling debut album, McCreery is gearing up for his first holiday-themed record, 'Christmas With Scotty McCreery.' The project is expected to be released on Oct. 16.
