Scotty McCreery Is The First American Idol Winner To Debut #1 Album Since 2003

Scotty McCreery, last season's American Idol winner, has a great measure of success on his hands.  He has won over the hearts of America more than any American Idol singer has in the last 8 years.  Not since Kelly Clarkson and Ruben Studdard in 2003 has a debut album from the Idol champ been the best selling album.  Congrats Scotty!  His new album "Clear As Day" entered at #1 in the Billboard 200.

What about Carrie Underwood?  That's the first thing I thought because in my opinion she is the most successful American Idol alumni.  She debuted at number 2 after winning American Idol with her album "Some Hearts."

Does Scotty have the star power and chops to make a long career?  Only time will tell!
