Scotty McCreery is a southern boy who loves down-home cookin’, but with the new year in full swing, the ‘Water Tower Town’ singer reveals that cutting out quick junk food is at the top of his New Year’s resolution list in 2013.

I really should lay off the fast food,” McCreery says of his diet changes. “I want to stay healthy!”

The North Carolina State University freshman looks as though he dodged the infamous ‘Freshman 15,’ but the singer admits that balancing act between career and school is much harder than he had anticipated.

“I’ve been studying nonstop. But it was a lot tougher than I was anticipating going into it,” says the superstar. “When I was doing this in high school, balancing it all was nothing. But college was definitely a huge step. I’ve had to learn how to study again.”

2013 is shaping up to be another exceptionally busy year for the college coed, who is currently in the studio working on the follow-up to his 2011 platinum-selling debut disc, ‘Clear as Day.’ McCreery will resume his touring responsibilities in February, with dates scheduled through October.
