As a person who doesn't want summer to end, I will treat a new road construction project in the Northland as good news.

That St. Louis County Public Works Department has announced that one of the busiest county roads in St. Louis County is about to receive some much needed resurfacing work. Construction begins Monday, August 10, on Arlington Avenue in Duluth, a road traveled by approximately 11,000 vehicles every day. The reclaim and overlay project spans 2.8 miles, from Trinity Road to Arrowhead Road.

To minimize the inconvenience to people who use Arlington, segments of the road will be completely closed to allow the work to be completed more quickly.  Arlington Avenue will be closed between Trinity Road and Central Entrance for 15 days, beginning August 17, and then between Central Entrance and Arrowhead Road for another 15 days beginning September 7.

Hopefully this advanced warning allows you to find an alternate route should you be used to running right on time.
