Did you get one of the plastic bags like the one in the picture with your mail this week?  It's for a very good reason and one you need to think about before you leave the house to float in a cold boat for the MN Fishing Opener, head to work or go shopping for a Mother's Day present.

The postal carriers delivered that plastic bag to collect non-perishable food donations you leave by your mailbox on Saturday, May 13.   It's the 25th year for the annual food drive going on across the country with the Nation Association of Letter Carriers. This drive is important to stock the shelves for the summer months when school is out and children are home to eat breakfast and lunch rather than getting those meals at school.

It's easy!  Use the bag provided and fill it with non-perishable food items like canned meats, fish, soup, juice, vegetables, pasta, cereal, peanut butter and rice.  (please make sure not to share out dated or expired foods).  Then just place it near your mailbox for your letter carrier to pick up and deliver to our local Salvation Army, all donations will stay local.
