Registration is Now Open for Fitgers 5k

I have run Fitgers 5k the past several years and it may not always be warm, but it is always a great time and a good way to kick start my training for the Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon. If you want to run it in 2013, register now before it fills up.
Grandmas Marathon announced that registration is now open for the 2013 Fitger’s 5K Run & Walk, scheduled for Saturday, April 20.
The Fitger’s 5K field is limited to the first 1,800 entrants – a registration cap that was reached one month prior to the 2012 race.
To sign up for the 24th annual event, runners and walkers should log on to www.GrandmasMarathon.com or www.YoungAthletesFoundation.com. The Fitger’s 5K registration process is conducted exclusively online.
The entry fee is $25 plus a processing fee with all net proceeds benefiting the Young Athletes Foundation (YAF), a Grandma’s Marathon program that focuses on the promotion and development of youth athletics throughout Carlton, Cook, Douglas, Lake and St. Louis Counties. Since its inception in 1990, the YAF has contributed more than $500,000 to area nonprofit youth athletic organizations.
The race begins at 9 a.m. on East Superior Street in front of Fitger’s and travels through downtown Duluth and Canal Park before finishing back at Fitger’s.
