At noon today, June 23,  The American Red Cross closed its Scanlon shelter.  In their press release, Judy Hanne Gonzalez, executive director of the Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross, stated that the shelter had no occupants last night.

“Rain continues to fall today, but it appears that we’ve turned a corner in our response,” Gonzalez said.  “I’m glad to know that people are beginning to recover from this week’s unprecedented disaster.”

Anyone needing shelter or Red Cross services should go to the Secondary Technical Center adjacent to the old Central High School at 802 E. Central Entrance, Duluth.

Our thoughts are with those displaced and facing clean up and financial pressures from all of this.  While Saturday is another rainy one, the forecast will be in our favor beginning Sunday as sunshine should prevail for the several days.
